The leaders of union local 1716 of AFSCME Council 4, which represents roughly 310 municipal workers, have reached a tentative contract with the city - the second union to do so since the city approved a budget with $3.2 million in cuts to salaries and benefits.
"We have reached a tentative agreement and it will of course require membership ratification," said union spokesman Larry Dorman, who wouldn't discuss the specifics of the agreement. "It protects public services and it does call for some sacrifice from our members to protect those services.
The city did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but has previously declined to comment on labor negotiations.
