HARTFORD: STAND UP AND BE COUNTED

COMPLETE COUNT COMMITTEE PROGRAM FOR 2010 CENSUS

---NEWS ADVISORY---

9:30 a.m. --- Mayor Eddie A. Perez will announce and proclaim the formation of a Complete Count Committee (CCC) in order to achieve accurate information for the U.S. 2010 Census.

Complete Count Committees are volunteer groups representing a cross-section of people who can develop and implement a plan of action targeting unique characteristics of communities and hard to count populations. These are trusted voices that are influential in communities and can help promote awareness of the 2010 Census.

Mayor Perez says, "It is important to get the word out that residents need to complete the forthcoming questionnaires and mail them back. It is essential that people know that the process is safe, confidential, easy and important."

The Census is mandated by the U.S. Constitution. It affects everything from federal funding to representation in Washington D.C.

The news conference will take place in the Function Room on the second floor of City Hall, 550 Main Street in Downtown Hartford.

For more information on the Mayor's role, please contract Sarah Barr, Director of Communications, at (860) 550-3174.
