Renovated Dwight Branch Library Opens

The Hartford Public Library officially opened its newly expanded and renovated Dwight Branch at the corner of Park Street and New Park Avenue on Monday, December 3.

The Dwight Branch, established in 1907 in the Parkville neighborhood, is located in the Parkville Community Center, which also includes the Parkville Elementary School and the the Parkville Senior Center.

The branch’s space has been increased to 2,200 square feet, allowing it to increase its scope of programs and services.

Hartford Public Library CEO?Matt Poland said, “We are delighted to create this 21st century library for the Parkville community and the city. The new design of the branch, which was opened at this location in 1979, mirrors the vibrant streetscape during the day, and at night becomes a beacon of light for the community. The space is designed for activities and learning for those who live, work and study in the neighborhood.”

The Dwight Branch Library is open from 12:30 - 5:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 12:30 - 7:30 pm on Wednesday; and 12:30 - 5 pm on Friday.
