So, Who Will Be The Next Council President?

Looks like the city council’s Democrats have some talking to do.

Word last week was that Councilman Jim Boucher wanted to fill the vacancy left by Mayor Pedro Segarra. But now city council Majority Leader rJo Winch says she wants to be the next council president.“I’m the acting council president as we speak, and I’ve been on the council for over seven and a half years,” Winch told WNPR, noting that Boucher appears to be her only opponent. ”I’ve gained a lot of experience.”

Winch says she knows “what it takes to build consensus with the individuals to make things move forward , and I think that I’m the right person.”

The city council meets tonight. It is unclear what action, if any, it will take regarding a new council president.
