If you follow Hartford politics, you’ll know Matt Ritter — he’s a Democrat on the city council. If you don’t, you’ll know his dad — former House Speaker Tom Ritter.
Looks like the younger Ritter is running for the seat now occupied by State Rep. Ken Green. Below is the email that just landed.
UPDATE: Ken Green called and left a message to say he plans on running.
MATT RITTER FOR STATE REP
Dear Friend:I am excited to announce that I am running for State Representative in the 1st Assembly District, which includes parts of both Hartford and Bloomfield. My decision was reached after talking with hundreds of residents from both towns about their concerns. Many of them expressed enthusiasm for my candidacy.
I am running because I truly believe I can make a difference in the issues the residents of the 1st District care about, and it would be an honor if you joined me as I make my official announcement on Wednesday, March 31 at 5:30 p.m. at Noah Webster School in Hartford.
I hope you can join me for this event and listen to my vision for Hartford, Bloomfield, the region and the state. I will be running a positive campaign which will focus on ideas for improving the lives of residents in Hartford and Bloomfield.
I look forward to seeing you on the 31st!
Best,
Matt
