Michael Lupo, a Republican write-in candidate for the 6th House District race, is commending the Hartford Police Department for firing his opponent, incumbent state Rep. Hector Robles, a Democrat. Robles was fired for falsifying time cards to give the appearance that he was on duty while working private jobs. Robles, a 15-year police veteran, had worked the overnight shift at the department.
Below is Lupo's press release:
Press Release from Mike Lupo Write In candidate for State Representative in the 6th District
Reaction to Robles Termination
It is a dark day for the Hartford Police Department, The City of Hartford and the Robles Family.
I commend Hartford Police Chief Roberts for his action today and only hope some good will come of the sad end to a policeman's career.
Mr. Robles has violated the public trust by his lapse of judgment and has disappointed the voters of the 6th Assembly District.
Going forward Mr. Robles should do the right thing and step down from his position as State Representative or the Legislature should demand that he do so. Inaction on their part would be a disservice to the people of South Hartford.
