OK, it wasn't a boxing match, but this half of Cityline likes to use sports phrases.
The numbers are in from the city's Week of the Parks and they look pretty good.
The effort to pick up trash and clean up 1,120 acres of Keney, Colt, Goodwin and Bushnell park resulted in: 328 acres of grass cut; 325 bags of trash filled; 125 barrels of trash emptied; 38 trees removed or pruned; and grafitti removed from six buildings and playscapes.
More than 250 corporate and individual volunteers also participated, including a couple brave souls from The Courant.
The effort also resulted in the hauling away of more than 13.5 tons of illegal dumping.
The next Week of The Parks has been scheduled for next spring.
