Cityline didn't make it to last night's meeting of the council's operations, management and budget committee.
But Chief Operating Officer David Panagore did. So did city's budget guy, Rick Galarza, and its deputy finance director, Christian Johnson. And there were folks there from Health and Human Services, too.
That's all according to the committee's chairman, Councilman Pedro Segarra, whose desire to have city staffers attend council committee meetings caused a stir earlier this week when the council voted to give itself subpoena powers to compell staffers to attend. This came after a charged exchange of letters between Segarra and Mayor Eddie A. Perez, who Segarra suspected of keeping his staff away from the council.
In the end, Perez struck a conciliatory tone, promising cooperation. And Segarra said today that he was satisfied.
"It's great to do business when you have people to answer questions," Segarra said. "And I look for more cooperation in the future."
