Former State Rep. Kenneth Green has taken out papers to form an exploratory committee for a possible mayoral run.

Green said today that although he is considering a few different city positions, he is most interested in running for mayor.

"The mayor's spot is one of the spots I will be reviewing. That will be my focus," he said.

Green, a Democrat who served as state representative for the 1st House District for 16 years, said he is concerned about the city's public school drop-out rate and unemployment.

He said he plans to reach out to members of the city's Democratic Town Committee to gauge support.

If he decides to run for the seat, Green will face off against Shawn Wooden, a lawyer for Day Pitney in Hartford, J. Stan McCauley, the founder of an online television network, and Mayor Pedro Segarra, the incumbent. State Rep. Kelvin Roldan, D-Hartford, has also taken out papers to form an exploratory committee for a possible mayoral run.
