At least five proposals are expected for managing the XL Center and the Stadium at Rentschler Field, two of the Hartford area's largest entertainment venues.
The Capital Region Development Authority says five entities have confirmed they are interested in submitting bids for managing the venues. The authority has floated the idea that it would consider one manager for both venues, which may better attract sports and entertainment events to the area.
The entities are:
? AEG Management CT LLC, the current manager of the XL Center.
?The Capital Region Sports and Entertainment Group, led by Bushnell Management Services LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Bushnell. The group also includes Alan Lazowski, the chief executive of Hartford-based LAZ Parking; Paul Pendergast, chief development officer of Back9Network, the Hartford-based golf network; James Carter, owner, Carter Realty; Bobby Crawford, chief executive of Champions Skating Centers; Eric Zachs, managing partner of Bantry Bay Ventures LLC and Peter Stevens, president of JCJ Architecture.
?Philadelphia-based Global Spectrum, which manages venues in 100 cities worldwide.
?Harbor Yard Sports & Entertainment, which manages the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport.
?SMG Worldwide, based in West Conshohocken, Penn., manages 233 facilities worldwide.
The bids are due Dec. 17.
The current management contracts expire in August, 2013.
