TUESDAY UPDATE: The council approved the resolution by consent Tuesday night, clearing the way for a skateboarding task force.

--------------------------------------

Councilman Luis Cotto says the city council creates task forces like they're going out of style.

So, before he set up a new Skateboarding Task Force, he wanted to make sure that he had people who want to serve. He's got six, he thinks he can get ten. And now he's ready for the council to begin the discussion of whether to turn a downtown park on top of I-84 into an official skateboard park at its meeting Monday Tuesday.

Cotto wants to form a task force to study the issue, with the ultimate goal of constructing a park at New Ross, County Wexford Park.

"It's very known in the region," Cotto said. "It's, can we take advantage of one of our strengths in the city to make it better?"

The council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. A public comment period is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
