Buying The Butt Ugly Building By Jeffrey B. Cohen July 14, 2009 Yes, there is still a Butt Ugly Building. But, for the first time in some time, there is movement on the building just north of downtown. The city is now considering acquiring the Butt Ugly Building from its owner. If it can't do that in three months or so in a "friendly" way, it will try to do so in a less friendly way - by taking it through eminent domain. Last month, the Hartford Redevelopment Agency gave city staff the nod to move forward with negotiations. We'll keep you posted
