Hartford Redevelopment Agency Postpones Meeting On Capitol West

Thursday's Hartford Redevelopment Agency meeting was canceled after Mayor Pedro Segarra declared a state of emergency due to the snow.

The agency was to discuss and possibly vote upon the issue of taking the dilapidated Capitol West building on Myrtle Street through eminent domain. City officials have said that attempts to reach an agreement on a price with the building's owner have been unsuccessful.

The meeting was rescheduled for Feb. 10.

Officials will continue to negotiate with Capitol West's owner, Joshua Guttman, over the next two weeks to try to reach an agreement on purchasing the property, said Sean Arena, chairman of the redevelopment agency. If no deal is reached, the agency will take up the eminent domain issue at the next meeting, he said.
