Trashion Fashion Show This Saturday

Honoring Earth Day

Artists and designers will present fashion designs made from "trash" at the 3rd Annual Trashion Fashion Show in collaboration with The Green Action Team and Evergreen Design Co. This Earth Day inspired celebration will be held on Saturday, April 20th at Hartford City Hall, 550 Main Street, from 6 p.m to 9 p.m.

The event will feature local artists, designers, along with high schoolmiddle school students from Hartford and the Greater Hartford region. Hosting over 60 models and designs that will make you rethink the way you view trash. Hartford City Hall will be transformed into a recycled forest thanks to local artist Nina Salazar, in collaboration with other artists and students.

Mayor Pedro Segarra will have a special guest appearance accompanied by other local area celebrities.

Debbie Allen Wright of project closet will serve as the evening's host. The celebration will have music and dance performances lead by String Theorie, a special “stomp” inspired tap show by professional dancers and live hand drummers accompanying the runway.

This event is a community-driven effort to promote environmental awareness and support the local Hartford arts scene. Event proceeds will go to a scholarship fund for local children to attend The Sustainable Farm School.

There will be a “Welcome to Bohemia” afterparty featuring wine, poetry, music, food and a place to meet artists at the Hartford Bicycle Studio.
