$400,000 Donated to NINA Efforts

November 8 - 15, 2006
By The Hartford News Staff

Television stars are usually well-paid so it is not really surprising that Asylum Hill’s “Victorian Lady,” which was the subject of a Home and Garden Television (HGTV) show as part of its Restore America program, was recently given a check for $40,000.

The Victorian Lady is the 19th century home that was saved from the wrecking ball by being moved from Sigourney Street to Ashley Street in 2004 and has since been magnificently restored. The move and the restoration were overseen by the Northside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance and the $40,000 grant will be used to further the organization’s efforts. The Victorian Lady is only one of several homes in Asylum Hill that NINA has restored and put back on the market.

The check was presented by the partners in Restore America, HGTV, Comcast and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
