There are 36 items on the
regular agenda. The Council meeting will begin at 8 P. M. at
Hartford City Hall in Council Chambers. A public hearing will precede the Council at 7:30 P.M will. The next Council meeting is scheduled for
November 25, 2002.
Building Operations
Partnership Board – The Council will
vote on a resolution authorizing the consolidation of building operations and
maintenance between the City, School District, and the business community. The resolution would create a Building
Operations Partnership Board would include two members from the City
Administration and two from the School Administration. The purpose of the Board would be to
increase efficiency of personnel. (Item
# 5)
Dutch Point/Good
Shepherd Revitalization – The
Council will vote on a resolution to commit $7,440,000 over a five year period
for the revitalization of the Dutch Point/Good Shepherd area. These funds will originate from a Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG), UDAG Repayments, HOME funds, and CCEDA housing
funds. The grants will be used to
transform the Dutch Point Housing project into 150 mixed income rental units
and 50 homeowner units. (Item # 3)
Cellular Phone Donation
Program – The Council will vote on a
resolution to begin a program to distribute donated cellular phones to the
city’s elderly residents. If passed,
this distribution will begin in December 2002. This program is a collaboration between the Human Services and Police
Departments. (Item # 4)
Hartford
Construction Job Initiative
-- The Council will vote on an ordinance amending the Municipal Code to
designate the Hartford Construction Job Initiative as the first source in
satisfying hiring requirements for assisted projects. Assisted projects, those projects that receive city support, have
percentage requirements for hiring city residents, minorities, and women. (Item
# 29)
National
Adoption Day -- The Council
will vote on a resolution proclaiming Saturday, November 23, 2002, as National
Adoption Day. On this day Hartford will
join other cities across the country in opening its courts to finalize the adoptions
of local children and join other organizations to celebrate all adoptions. (Item #32)
Hartford Public
Library Congratulated on Award
-- The Council will vote on a resolution congratulating the Hartford Public Library
for receiving the 2002 National Award for Library Service from the Institute of
Museum and Library Services. (Item #31)
