There are 95 items on the regular agenda. The Council meeting will begin at 8 P. M.
at Hartford City Hall in Council Chambers. A public hearing, which will begin at 7:30 P.M., will precede the
Council. The next Council meeting will
be October 28, 2002. The Council
meeting is being held on Tuesday rather than Monday because of the Columbus Day
Holiday.
Rodent Control Plan – The Council will send to public
hearing November 18 an ordinance which would require that all new development –
which includes new buildings and new additions to existing buildings – have a
Rodent Control Plan to eliminate rodents on the entire property. The plan would include a contract with a
licensed exterminator. The plan would
require approval by the Rodent Control Division and building permits will not
be issued until the “planning and baiting effort” is complete and approved. (Item #77)
Hartford Children Trust Fund – The Council will vote
on a resolution, which would create the Hartford Children Trust Fund. If established, the income from the fund
would be used for implementing children and youth programs. The principal of
the fund would consist of several sources including: proceeds from specific
fund raising events, gifts or contributions made to
the city to create the fund, and contributions from the
general fund resulting from savings with the Human Services Department
2001-2002 operating budget. This
ordinance has been to public hearing and is on the calendar for action. (Item #49)
City Plan Implementation Strategy -- The Council will
vote on a resolution adopting the City Plan Implementation Strategy. The Strategy is the product of the City Plan
Implementation Taskforce, which has been working with the creators of various
plans to prioritize elements within the plans, and assign timelines and
responsibilities for implementation. (Item #88)
Public Health Preparedness for Bioterrorism – The
Council will vote on a resolution which would authorize City Manager Lee
Erdmann to accept $32,769 for the Hartford Health Department to develop the
infrastructure needed to prepare for a bioterrorism event. The funds will be provided by the Centers
for Disease Control and the Connecticut Department of Public Health. (Item #15)
