There are 68 items on the regular agenda. The Council meeting will begin at 8 P. M.
at Hartford City Hall in Council Chambers and will be televised live on Hartford
Public Access, Channel 21.
Billboard Ordinance - The Council will vote on
an ordinance which would change the charter with reference to signs. If the ordinance were adopted, sign permits
would be issued to the owners of the property where the sign is located, rather
than the owner of the sign. The
ordinance has been to public hearing and is on the action agenda. (Item #42)
Neighborhood Youth
Centers - The City was the recipient of two grants from the State of
Connecticut, Office of Policy and Management for the operation of two
neighborhood youth centers. The two
Youth Centers are located at Weaver High School and Mi Casa. The Council will vote to authorize City
Manager Kee Borges to enter into contractual agreements with Mi Casa and the
Urban League to operate the two Centers. (Item # 5)
City of Hartford Proud and Beautiful sign project – The City of Hartford and
Hartford Proud and Beautiful have secured federal funding for a sign project to
assist travelers in locating major destinations in the city. The cost of this project is $500,000. The Federal Highway Administration will
provide $400,000 cost and the city of Hartford will provide 100,000 from the FY
2000/2001 budget. The city staff will
advertise the project for bids and will provide the construction inspection and
administration during the construction phase of the project. The Council will
vote to authorize the City Manager to enter into the necessary contracts for
the project. (Item # 10)
Adriaen’s Landing Project – With the new development
of Adriaen’s Landing the City offices located at 10 Prospect Street (Hartford
Times building) will be required to move. The City will be considering moving their offices to 250 and 260 Constitution
Plaza. The new space will be approximately 72,000 square feet and leasing
initial term is for (15) years at a base rent of $10.50 per square with 144
parking spaces. The Council will vote
to authorize the City Manager to enter into the necessary contracts for the
project. (Item # 7)
