Hartford City Council Meeting

Recommended Budget for the City of Hartford, fiscal year 2000-2001 - The Council will vote to refer to the City Manager’s recommended budget for 2000-2001, at a Public Hearing on Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at 6:00 P.M. at the Bulkeley High School Auditorium,. The recommended budget is $427,062,070 (approximately $1.9 million more than the 1999-00 adopted budget level). The increase is primarily attributed to citywide expenditure adjustments. (Item #1)

Search for the position of Chief of Police - On recommendations of the City Council the City Manager is authorized to contact professional recruitment firms to begin the process of finding candidates for the position of Chief of Police. (Item #12)

Charter Revision Commission- The Council will be receiving the Proposed Amended Charter and the Minority Report from the Charter Revision Committee. (Items #20 & #21)

Tax Assessment Agreement for Downtown Development –The Operation Management & Budget, Education and Labor Committee, has recommended approval of the city entering into a tax assessment fixing agreement with the Morgan Reed Group for the development of the property at 398 Asylum Street (formerly the Bond Hotel). The full Council will vote on this resolution. If passed, the City Manager would execute an agreement with the Morgan Reed Group for a seven-year assessment fixing agreement and the Morgan Reed Group would convert the site to apartments. (Item #26)
