at the meeting. The meeting is
scheduled for 8 PM at Hartford City Hall.
Budget for Parking
Authority -- The Council will be considering action on a budget for the new
Hartford Parking Authority through June 30, 1999. The total budget, including one-time start-up costs, for the
Authority is $64,025. Of that amount,
$17,105 will be the responsibility of the city and $46,920 will be the
responsibility of the Authority. (Item
#5)
Outdoor Advertising -- The Council will be voting on resolution which will authorize City Manager
Kee Borges to execute a lease agreement with Martin Media for property at
Hamilton and Wellington Streets. The
agreement would allow Martin Media to erect an outdoor sign on the
property. The resolution was on the
agenda for the January 11 meeting but was postponed at the recommendation of
the Planning, Economic Development, and Zoning Committee until details of the
lease agreement were known. (Item #15)
Capital Region Job
Corps Center -- The Council will be
voting on a resolution authorizing City Manger Kee Borges to enter into
contractual agreements with other governmental agencies and businesses to
create the Capital Region Job Corps Center.
The Center will serve up to 200 students and create up to 75 jobs. The federal Department of Labor announced
January 16 that Hartford would be awarded a Job Corps Center. (Item #7)
Day Care Center --
The Council will vote on an ordinance to appropriate $170,969 for the
construction of a day care center in unused space at the Dominic F. Burns
Elementary School. The center will
serve 20 pre-school children year round.
The funding to renovate the space will come through the State Facilities
Bond Funds. Funds for the operation of
the Center will come through Hartford School Readiness Program, city general
funds, parent fees, and Child Day Care Subsidies. (Item #14)
