2010 Top Innovations Award

HartfordInfo.org Honored

Hartford Public Library has won the 2010 Top Innovations Award in the Civic and Community Engagement category for its program, HartfordInfo.org, from the Urban Libraries Council. Additionally, Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra and the Hartford City Council honored the Hartford Public Library with a proclamation acknowledging the award and declaring Sept. 13, 2010 "HartfordInfo.org Day." Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra and City Councilman Jim Boucher present a proclamation to Hartford Public Library recognizing the Library's receipt of a Top Innovations Award for its program HartfordInfo.org from the Urban Libraries Council. The proclamation reads:

Proclamation by the Honorable Pedro E. Segarra, Mayor

Whereas, The Hartford Public Library has recently been honored as the recipient of a Top Innovator Award from the Urban Library Council for its program HartfordInfo.org; and

Whereas, The Library was chosen as one of only twelve libraries from among 220 award nominees from throughout the United States and Canada to receive the award; and

Whereas, Other award recipients include some of the finest urban public libraries in North America, such as the Brooklyn Public Library, the Cleveland Public Library, the San Francisco Public Library, and the Houston Public Library; and

Whereas, HartfordInfo.org is used by 10,000 - 15, 000 people monthly, averaging well over 1 million hits per month, and experienced a 57% increase in total hits in the last fiscal year; and

Whereas, HartfordInfo.org is used by a broad spectrum of people including neighborhood residents, community and non-profit organizations, government agencies, students and teachers, journalists, business people and others; Now Therefore Be It

Resolved, That I, Pedro E. Segarra, Mayor
of the City of Hartford, along with the Court of Common Council and the citizens of Hartford, do hereby proclaim September 13, 2010 as

HartfordInfo.org Day
