By Andy Hart

June 13, 2013

Virginia Iacobucci, owner of La Paloma Sabanera on Capitol Avenue, has announced that the coffee house will be closing at the end of this month. The shop’s official last day will be Thursday, June 27, and will continue to be open during its regular hours until then.

La Paloma was originally owned by the Cotto family and became a popular meeting spot and entertainment venue. Iacobucci purchased the shop five years ago and continued the tradition.

In tribute to Iacobucci, many of the entertainers who got their start at La Paloma will be performing for one last time at the shop on Wednesday, June 26, from 6 - 11:30 pm. Scheduled performers include: The Ear Cave, Other People's Stories, Syllable: The Reading Series, The Connecticut Improv Mixer, Sea Tea Improv, Tick Tick BOOM!, The Hartford Hot Several, Rabbit Ears Media, String Theorie, Ben Kelin, Tubist, Kate Callahan, The Dress-Ups, Modern Merchant, Brian Cook Designs, Official Live Doodler Constanza Segovia and many more. The public is invited.
